This article explains the basics of shipping settings on Walmart marketplace and how they can be overridden via M2E Pro.

Walmart shipping overview

Shipping settings are global and must be configured in your Seller Center under the Settings > Partner Profile > Shipping.

Depending on the criteria that impact a cost calculation, you may select one of the two shipping models:

  • Tiered Pricing - a shipping cost depends on the purchased item price. For example, you can charge shipping for a product that is priced below $50 and offer free shipping if the ordered product price exceeds $50. You will need to provide a rate for each item price range.
  • Item/Weight Pricing - a shipping cost depends on the item weight, e.g. per pound, or on the number of items in an order. You will need to provide a rate per item/weight and a shipping and handling cost.

Note

The shipping models cannot be combined. The settings saved for one model will override the settings previously specified for another model.

Tip

Refer to the Partner Profile Settings article to get more details.

After you select your shipping model, you have to set up shipping methods. Walmart marketplace offers several default shipping methods and requires sellers to support at least one. The available shipping methods vary depending on Walmart marketplace.

US marketplace

  • Value - it is preconfigured as free shipping method with 3-7 business day transit time for 48 State - Street region. The method cannot be disabled in Seller Center, however, sellers may set up shipping exceptions to exclude certain items from offering Free Value shipping.
  • Standard - the optional method that is preconfigured with 2-5 business day transit time for 48 State - Street and 48 State – PO Box regions. The transit time for other regions may vary. Enabling and pricing this shipping method is up to the seller.
  • Expedited - the optional method that is preconfigured with 1-2 business day transit time for 48 State - Street and 48 State – PO Box regions. The transit time for other regions may vary. Enabling and pricing this shipping method is up to the seller.
  • Next Day - the optional method that is preconfigured with 0-1 business day transit time for 48 State - Street and 48 State – PO Box regions. The transit time for other regions may vary. Enabling and pricing this shipping method is up to the seller.
  • Freight - this method can only be enabled through the shipping overrides. It covers all regions and has the preconfigured transit time of 5-10 business days. Sellers may charge buyers for shipping or offer it for free.

CA marketplace

  • Standard - the transit time and pricing for this shipping method are up to the seller.
  • Express - the method is optional, the transit time and pricing may vary.

Shipping overrides

Using M2E Pro Selling Policy, you may create the item-level overrides to your global shipping settings. To do it, complete the steps below.

Step 1. Under the Shipping section, enable the Override Mode option, then click Add Shipping Override Service to open the override options:

Step 2. Select a shipping method that you want to override or add to your global shipping settings:

Step 3. Define the region to which you want to apply these settings:

Step 4. Set up the mode, i.e. free or paid. The paid mode is offered by two options: a custom value or custom attribute.

Step 5. Provide the shipping cost if you select one of the paid mode options:

The override information will be applied to the relevant products on the Walmart website.

Note

Please be advised that:

  • When you set an override for one shipping method for the product, the other shipping methods will still be taken from the global shipping settings. For example, if you have enabled the Standard and Expedited shipping in Seller Center, but you set an override for the Standard method for the product, the global settings for Expedited shipping will still apply to this product.
  • When you override to enable the Freight method for the product, it will replace all other shipping methods that you configure in the Seller Center for this particular product.
